bio...

Rachael Sherer is an artist who finds beauty in the simple and often overlooked details. She draws inspiration from God’s wonderful creation, early classical artists, her family and simplicity in life style. Rachael has been represented by Lyons Share Gallery in Fairhope, Alabama for eighteen years. Fairhope is known for its active art community and is a “Southern Living” town. She is also represented in other fine galleries around the southeast. Rachael has enjoyed entering competitions and juried shows because of the challenge they produce to strive for excellence and try things that will help her grow as an artist. As a result, a number of her pieces have been juried in and some have won awards. Rachael grew up on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay in Alabama, where she developed an appreciation for art, passed on to her by her mother and community. The youngest of five, Rachael followed the family tradition by attending the University of Alabama, earning her degree in Interior Design. Married for 35 years, Rachael put her art pursuits on hold until her two children were older. In addition to building a career as a fine artist, she home-schooled her children for six years and helped her husband build a business. Today she also maintains connections with her rather large family, spends time serving in her church and community and enjoys her grandchildren and hiking. Rachael currently resides in South Carolina on beautiful Lake Murray.
artist statement...
Our culture has reduced everything to science and we are well practiced at not seeing the beauty that is before us. I love the detail and tiny components from which the world is made and often feel that beauty is overlooked. My art is a means by which I can say thank you to God for his creation and draw the attention of the viewer to this beauty.
